Hip Hop Slam recently awarded DJ QBert with a "Hip Hop Slam
Hall Of Fame Award" for being "The Most Innovative Skratch
DJ of All Time." It is only
the fifth such award bestowed by the Bay Area hip hop mixed media
company since its formation in 1986. Grand Wizard Theodore, KRS-One,
Too $hort, and Paul Mooney were the previous recipients of awards
from the Oakland, CA based hip hop company. "DJ QBert has
clearly innovated and advanced the art form of the hip hop DJ
or 'turntablist' more than any other turntable technician to date
and hence is most deserving of this award," said Hip Hop
Slam spokesperson Kate Wolfson.
